Feakle
Feakle is a small village in County Clare located about ten to fifteen minutes away from Scariff.
In addition to being the home of herbalist, healer and Irish forklore legend, Biddy Early, Feakle is perhaps most famous for its traditional music festival. The Feakle Music Festival is an annual event celebrating the richness of Irish folk and traditional music when the narrow village streets and boreens suddenly become clogged with thousands of revellers and music lovers from all around the world.
Indeed if Irish traditional music is you passion (or you're just curious and want to hear some, believe me it soon will be!) then Feakle's the place to be any time of the year. Peppers Bar, on the outskirts of the village, features traditional music on Wednesday nights (come early to get a seat) and also on weekends (ring 061 924322 for more details). The bar is something of an institution in East Clare and is also a functioning restaurant. Shorts Bar, in the centre of the village, also have music on Thursday nights.
